Safari Here è un progetto Europeo site related e community based, realizzato in collaborazione con gli artisti Maria Anastassiou (UK) e Milos Tomic (SB). Utilizzando i mezzi ed l’estetica dell’industria del turismo mette in luce la vita quotidiana di luoghi che non appaiono di solito su guide turistiche. Safari Here non stimola nell’audience il sogno dell’altrove come il turismo ma fa il processo inverso, cioè osserva e mette a fuoco il ‘qui’. L’idea è che re-interpretando e ri-presentando la vita quotidiana di un luogo possa creare nuove narrative e un rinnovato coinvolgimento sociale per il pubblico locale e creare nuovo pubblico. Safari Here è un’agenzia viaggi (che offre soltanto tour della stessa città/quartiere), una visita giudata e alcuni video. È stato sviluppato e presentato a Belgrado Serbia (Feb ’16), Brindisi Italia (Apr ’16), Blyth UK (Maggio ’16), Donostia / San Sebastian Capitale Europea della Cultura Paesi Baschi (Sett ’16), Gdansk Polonia (Maggio ’17) e a Shotton Colliery – East Durham, UK (Sett ’17). Finanziato e prodotto da ISIS Arts Newcastle -UK, Teatro Publico Pugliese -Italia, Rex – Serbia all’interno della piattaforma Corners of Europe.
Safari Here is a cross-European collaborative project with the artists Maria Anastassiou (UK) and Milos Tomic (SB) , that appropriates tools and aesthetics of the travel industry to celebrate the everyday life of places that might otherwise not be on a tourist map. Safari Here aim not to imitate or dream the ‘elsewhere’ but observe and focus on the ‘here’. The idea is that as we re-interpret and re-present the fabric of everyday life of a place, new narratives and renewed engagement will emerge for the local audiences and for possible new audiences. Safari Here takes the form of a travel agency, a guided tour and a short film developed and presented so far in Belgrade Serbia (Feb ’16), Brindisi Italy (Apr ’16) Blyth UK (May ’16),Donostia / San Sebastian European Capital of Culture (Sept ’16), Gdansk, Poland (May ’17) and in Shotton Colliery – East Durham, UK (Sept ’17).
